Crew Exploration Vehicle Overview

CEV IllustrationIn January 2004, President George W. Bush announced a new Vision for Space Exploration for NASA that would return humans to the Moon by 2020 in preparation for human exploration of Mars. As part of this vision, NASA would retire the Space Shuttle in 2010 and build and fly a new Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) no later than 2014.

Recognizing the importance of this new NASA initiative, ZIN-Tech has organized to leverage our accomplished background in the design, development and operations of space flight hardware during the shuttle era to become a compelling small business partner for the development of the NASA Project Orion, Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) and the ARES-1 & 5 Crew Launch Vehicles (CLV), as well as other Exploration Initiative programs.

ZIN-Technologies was an active participant in the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) Phase I development effort providing support to significant portions of the Tier I Prime Contractor Proposal Efforts. ZIN-Technologies has been involved in analyzing a wide range of nominal and off-nominal scenarios including Ascent/Descent, Earth Orbit, ISS Resupply and Lunar Missions.

Results from our analysis have been utilized in many different areas allowing sizing of both Orion and ARES-1 production subsystems. We have been leveraging previous experience in the development of detailed timelines for design, build and delivery of selected subsystems.

ZIN-Tech has experience with direct application to the Exploration Initiative in the areas of:
