A typical CDU can be configured with the following components and capabilities:

• CPU - i486/100Mhz, min 64MB DRAM, 4 to 85 MB socketed DiskOnChip (Flash memory) for OS, flight software and possible data storage. Two serial ports, typically for external support and telemetry
  
• Serial I/O - Four RS232/RS422/RS485 ports for connection of X channels for sensor connections give multiple sensor connections
  
• Data Storage - Customer specific: either a Flash drive, or a rotational hard drive
  
• I/O - A/D and Digital I/O capable of 16SE / 8DIFF channels with 12-bit resolution, 8in/8out digital I/O lines, 2 D/A channels

Additionally, the stack can be configured to provide the following capabilities:
