ZIN Tech Selected to Support the James Webb Space Telescope Testing

2/6/2004

ZIN Tech will support the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) development by providing seismic measurement capabilities to the Space Power Facility (SPF) at the NASA-Plum Brook Station using its proven Space Acceleration Measurement System (SAMS) instrument. SAMS will provide a system of Triaxial Sensor Heads-Ethernet Standalone (TSH-ES) units to the facility to take measurements which will allow GSFC and Kodak to develop better analytical models for JWST. These models will be used to help predict, and verify the performance of the optical systems for the JWST during testing at SPF.

Previously, ZIN Tech provided background vibration data for the facility at Plum Brook. This effort was used to verify that the facility could provide the required environment to test the JWST. Currently, ZIN Tech will provide more equipment and measure a larger frequency range with higher resolution to provide data on disturbances generated by specific support equipment as well as structural resonances at the SPF facility.
