"Since 2000, NorTech has been recognizing technology leaders working at the forefront of research, development and technology commercialization in Northeast Ohio," said Dorothy C. Baunach, President and CEO, of NorTech. "We believe the innovations being recognized today will lay the groundwork for building new technology industries for the future of our region."
NASA Glenn Research Center and ZIN Technologies was recognized for vMetrics. A compact, wireless biometric monitoring system originally designed to track the health of astronauts while onboard the International Space Station. This revolutionary technology has applications beyond the aerospace industry, allowing medical personnel in a hospital or clinical setting to remotely monitor the health of patients, reducing the frequency of hospital stays, nursing visits and medical costs.
ZIN Technologies, in partnership with The Cleveland Clinic, established ZIN Medical, Inc. to further develop, test and commercialize the vMetrics technology. For more information, go to www.zinmedical.com.
