Responsibilities:
• Perform System Safety Engineering hazard assessments and analyses in order to:
o Identify and quantify risk
o Assure compliance with NASA/Commercial safety requirements
o Provide detailed reports and recommendations for mitigation strategies
o Prepare and present technical presentations
o Participate in Safety Panel Reviews
o Review flight drawings and documents, operational scenarios, and subsequent changes for safety impact
• Provide real-time and post-flight engineering support for flight anomaly investigations
• Work with customers (NASA, Commercial), International Partners, Principal Investigators, and other Payload Providers and Prime contractors


Requirements

• US CITIZENSHIP OR VALID GREEN CARD REQUIRED
• 2+ years of experience in Systems Safety Engineering
• Experience providing detailed technical briefings and progress reports to team members, customers and management
• Experience in requirements development, verification or assurance
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Ability to develop excellent working relationships with customers, peers, and management
• Experience using Microsoft Office to prepare detailed reports, presentations, and spreadsheets to convey technical information to customers and management
• Must be able to travel (up to 10%)



Preferences

• Experience supporting manned and unmanned spaceflight programs in Safety, Operations, Training, Safety Panels and/or Flight Support.
• Familiarity with the NASA organization and with the International Space Station (ISS) subsystems and components
• NASA system flight safety review process experience to include participation in safety reviews and direct participation in conducting space system safety reviews
• Experience in any NASA Space Programs (e.g., Shuttle, Constellation, Space Station, Commercial Crew, SLS, Lunar Gateway)
• Knowledge of fault tree and risk management analysis
• An understanding of NASA ISS Safety Review Process (SSP 30599), NASA Safety Requirements Document (SSP 50021), and NASA ISS Safety Requirements Document (SSP 51721)
• An understanding of system safety analysis process, as well as how to generate safety data packages and hazard reports
• An understanding of the ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management standards
